Herbie, born in 1963 in Wolfsburg, Germany, is a fictional character, a Volkswagen Sedan with certain human characteristics. This character has been featured in several Disney movies since 1968, starting with the film “The Love Bug”. Herbie is a car that possesses self-awareness and is able to operate independently, without needing a driver. Despite its mostly fixed metal parts in the front, Herbie is capable of bending and changing position, allowing for a very expressive face (or remaining expressionless when necessary). Additionally, Herbie is a serious competitor in auto racing competitions. It is easily recognizable by its creamy yellow color with three stripes of red, white, and blue that cross back and forth, as well as the number “53” prominently painted on the front doors and engine cover. In certain Latin American countries, Herbie was known as “Love Bug”.
