The TRESCO DEF MOD V1.3 MOD is a modification that alters the economy and traffic behavior of Euro Truck Simulator 2 (ETS2). The mod aims to make the game more challenging and realistic, although it may lead to frustration for some players.
One of the main changes implemented by the mod is the adjustment of various in-game parameters to reflect real-world values. This includes changes to factors such as bank interest rates, ferry connection prices and distances, fuel prices, foreign exchange rates, truck prices, and driver salaries.
However, there are also some modifications that deviate from reality in order to make the game more playable. For example, the price of deliveries increases tenfold once the player owns their own truck. Additionally, bank loans have higher limits, police fines are more closely tied to revenue, and the prices for truck parts are adjusted to provide a more realistic overall truck price.
The mod also changes the traffic behavior in the game. There are now two peak traffic periods during the day, between 05:30 and 10:30 and between 15:30 and 20:30. During these periods, traffic is significantly more congested. At night, traffic is generally lighter, with the lowest levels between 22:00 and 03:00.
To use the mod, it must be placed at the top of the load order. It has been tested on version 1.28.3.2s of ETS2 without any other mods. For those who wish to test different strategies, a “Fast Testing Mod” is included in the archive.
Some tips for starting out with the mod include focusing skill points on experience income, as leveling up quickly is beneficial. Depending on how quickly the player expects to obtain their own truck, skill points should be allocated to distance, a combination of factors, or economy-related skills such as fuel consumption. It is also important to choose trucks wisely, as the refund for selling a truck is only 50% of the purchase price.
For further development, the mod provides information on prices for garages, upgrades, trucks, and drivers. These ranges include a garage and upgrade price of 60,000 and 40,000 respectively, trucks priced between 45,000 and 55,000, and driver salaries starting at 600 per week.
The changelog for the mod includes updates for ETS2 version 1.28.3.2s and ProMods 2.20. Other updates include changes to fuel prices, exchange rates, ISO codes for countries, port names, and ferry connections. The mod also adds several new ferry connections that actually exist in real life.
